The honest comparison

An online course for ten people costs around £246 and covers the first row only. This pack is £79 for the whole firm however many people you have, and covers all six.

The packs

One hazard, done completely. £79 each, unlimited staff, no renewal fee.

AW · Abrasive Wheels

Grinders, cut-off saws, bench grinders

The 1970 regulations were revoked. PUWER now requires demonstrable competence to select, mount or use a wheel. Covers mounting, the 3mm work rest gap, ring testing, guarding and dust.

BKS · Vehicle Marshal

Banksman and reversing

24 workers were killed by a moving vehicle at work in 2025/26, second only to falls. The marshal is often the one killed, because they stood in the vehicle's path.

WAH · Working at Height

Ladders, roofs, platforms

31 workers killed in 2025/26, the single biggest cause. Most were short falls from ladders and fragile roofs. There is no minimum height in the regulations.

SIL · Silica & DustHSE campaign live

Cutting concrete, stone, brick, tile

MH · Manual Handling

Lifting, carrying, moving

The largest cause of lost working days. The regulations say avoid first, then assess, then reduce. A lifting course on its own does not discharge the duty.

COS · COSHH & Substances

Chemicals, dusts, fumes and skin

PPE comes last in the hierarchy, after elimination, substitution and engineering controls. Reaching for a mask first is the failing inspectors find fastest.

ASB · Asbestos Awareness

Any building from before 2000

Around 5,000 deaths a year, more than road traffic collisions. The regulations require this training for anyone who could foreseeably disturb it.

DAP · Drugs Awareness

Policy, training and records

Exactly what is in a pack

Nothing hidden. This is every document in the abrasive wheels pack, and every other topic follows the same structure.

  1. Implementation guide — the legal position and the order to do it in
  2. Risk assessment — every hazard, every control, ready to make site-specific
  3. Safe system of work — the one to put up where the work happens
  4. Inspection and maintenance record — pre-use checks and periodic inspection
  5. Training delivery pack — the session your own supervisor delivers, about an hour
  6. Theory test — candidate paper, blank, answered in ink
  7. Assessor answer key — separate document, never published anywhere
  8. Practical assessment record — on your machine, on your site
  9. Written authorisation — names the person and the equipment. Most firms do not have this
  10. Toolbox talks — with attendance sheets
  11. Register and refresher tracker — turns a one-off into a system
Be clear about what this is

These are template and guidance documents. The legal duty stays with the employer, and every pack says so on its face. You must make the risk assessment specific to your own site rather than simply signing it. If your situation is unusual, take advice.

Certificates anybody can check

Optional. For when a customer, a principal contractor or an insurer wants third-party evidence.

You assess your people in-house using the pack and send us the completed records. We check them and issue a certificate carrying a QR code that resolves to our verification page. A site safety officer scans it and either gets a real record or nothing at all.

If it does not scan, it is not ours.

PeoplePer certificateExample
1 to 9£155 people = £75
10 to 24£1210 people = £120
25 and over£1025 people = £250

We verify the evidence properly and we reject records that are too thin. A certificate that means nothing is worth nothing. Certificates state clearly that the assessment was carried out in-house and verified by us.

Or we come to you

For plant and machinery, where an outside assessor genuinely carries weight.

Telehandler, counterbalance and rough terrain forklift, MEWP, 360 excavator, lorry loader, slinger signaller. Assessed on your machines, on your site, which is what familiarisation requires anyway. No travel, no overnight, no lost day of production.

Price
Per operator£195minimum of four
Four operators£780a day on site
Six operators£1,170a day on site

An external assessor is not a legal requirement. It is a credibility one: a principal contractor takes an outside assessment seriously and an unqualified in-house one much less so.
